Reem Salahi
UC Berkeley Law School Alumnus, Bridges Fellow at the ACLU, and
National Lawyers Guild Fact-Finding Delegate to Gaza

Last month, Salahi traveled to Gaza with a delegation of 8 American
lawyers from the National Lawyers Guild to assess the effects of the
recent Israeli war and to determine if any violations of international
law or war crimes occurred and whether these might be violations of
U.S. domestic law.

Salahi documented her findings through photography and conducted
interviews with the people of Gaza. She spoke to families and workers
particularly impacted by the recent Israeli offensive, including
medical personnel, humanitarian aid workers and United Nations
representatives.

In particular, the delegation examined three issues: 1) targeting of
civilians and civilian infrastructure; 2) illegal use of weapons and
3) blocking of medical and humanitarian assistance to civilians.

2.) CHALLENGE TO RICHARD FALK:

A.) Procedural or Get Wired ? = Do you wish to encourage global public
discussion of the issues raised by this event?

We note BTW that the program description fails to mention any Q & A
from the audience. Even when Q & A is assured, however, the scope for
discussion is quite limited by time pressure, as we all know from many
years of experience, waiting impatiently for any given audience guy at
the mike to finish so that we can get our turn. The Internet and in
particular the Usenet newsgroups have made these sardine can
limitations of traditional lecture halls completely obsolete.

Two nights from the moment of this writing, i.e on Tuesday March 8th,
you have the opportunity from the podium to promise the attending
students of U Cal Berkeley and their guests that every single one of
them will have the chance fully to present her (or his) views and
questions to all interested members of the audience.

One shakes hands with the _deus ex machina_ for this miracle by: 1.
Getting on-line. 2. Going to the Google Groups Page. 3. Registering
for free. 4. Posting a test article to the newsgroup "ba.test" (be
sure to include in the subject line the words "test" or "ignore") and
5. Bingo! Annie Audience is now able to post her question or statement
to the newsgroup chosen as the Net venue for the event's discussion.
6. The simplest newsgroup choice therefor would be "ba.politics" where
the first two letters are taken from "Bay Area" but you have many
alternatives thereto, including "talk.politics.mideast" and even
hiring beforehand the closest handy high school nerd to create for you
a special
new "alt." newsgroup with whatever name you may like. 7. The important
thing in this respect = definitely naming to the audience the
newsgroup you do recommend for our hypothetical common purpose. 8.
Given the prior steps, you could then suggest that intending
discussants prefix the titles of their articles with "UCB-10" in order
to help readers identify the on-line continuation of your original FTF
meeting. 9. You could even make this whole option dependent on a
friendly host organization agreeing beforehand to post these
instructions on their Website. Such cooperation being achieved, you
will then be able to make your promise to the audience and refer them
to the appropriate Website for the relatively simple instructions.
Surely the famous UCB is high-tech enough to have a largish video
screen available for the meeting?

Do you buy this option and decide to push it for and at the meeting,
then you will be creating the means for full, free, sustained debate
over the issues involved. AFAIK this will be a first.

B.) Substantive: I am particularly indebted to you for your handy 1971
book CRIMES OF WAR (#1 below for citation), which laid out in easily
accessible form the dramatic & emphatic prohibition of aggressive war
by the International Military Tribunal sitting at Nuremberg, Tokyo and
Manila. Even if you did stick in there a wee note saying in effect,
"Just kidding, of course."

Other duties call me immediately now. For the time being, therefore, I
will say only that such words as "crisis, catastrophe, attack,
offensive (or) siege" are miserable euphemisms when applied to the
recent Israeli actions, the true title for which = "the Jews' New
Year's Massacre in Gaza" or, for short, the "Gaza Massacre" of some
1400 helpless prisoners in Earth's largest concentration camp.

* Thus plain speech and accurate English, in the same sense that we
have long been wont truly to say that in the 1930's
the Japanese invaded China; on 22 June 1941, the Germans
invaded Russia (then styled the USSR) and in later decades the
Americans have attacked Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, the
Dominican Republic, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Grenada,
Panama, Serbia, Iraq and and Afghanistan (partial list), murdering
more than ten million people in the last twenty years alone.
Because of the long-noted peculiar nature of the distributed
nationality of world Jewry,
the ins & outs of this most grave accusation against them bear
extended discussion so that we, the normal alias "gentile" rainbow
righteous Seven Billion of Earth, may achieve a clear understanding of
the character of the doomed tyranny --sometimes called, among other
names,
"JAT" for Jewish-American T.-- which presently oppresses us. Despite
the opprobrium of the sister term "self-righteous",
'tis of the greatest importance IMHO for those who do stand for
justice to develop a sense of self-awareness and a firm grasp of the
vital distinction between ourselves vs. the imperial criminals,
addicted as they are to waging aggressive war.
Those last two fatal words mean mass murder, torture, industrial-
strength lies aka "mainstream news media" and
robbery on a planetary scale. Each of us should meditate regularly on
individual cases of our choice --for example,
those of the Rabbo girls in Gaza, of Iman al-Hams, of Akaber Zaid, of
Abir Aramin and of Rachel Corrie-- in order to prepare ourselves for
the intellectual exercise of multiplying by the necessary factor of
millions
the fate of any one given victim. Such preparation will provide us
with the motive for constructing the essential hierarchy
of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of Earth.
Many inspiring examples in history remind us that
yagotta have somebody to beat anybody. We Americans (here to speak of
my own nation) have the duty and the opportunity to learn from the
successes of Presidents Hugo Chavez, Nelson Mandela, Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad, Evo Morales, Rafael Correa, Fernando Lugo and Hizbullah
Secretary-General
Hassan Nasrallah, among others.

Will we learn to save time by using positive grammar to the max? Thus
to transform a Jewish proverb, she who can endure the evil will live
to see glory. Let our watchwords be: Save life! Live and let live.
Friendly competition. Mercy* to all criminals, even the Bushes,
Clintons and Obama meaning, of course, that first we put them at our
mercy.
From dissent and protest to popular accord, from tail-chasing
"activism" to vast vision to sound strategy to bold action to
victory!

"Samera Esmeir LL.M, PhD"

Dear Professor Esmeir,

Yesterday under time pressure, I sent the item below to your partner
for tomorrow's event,
the famous Professor Richard Falk, and also to the CC's listed at the
far bottom.

Repeating the main question therein: "Do you wish to encourage global
public
discussion of the issues raised by this event?"

If so, and further assuming some minimal degree of quick cooperation
from the hosts, then you could get
by on this rather important procedural point with as little as
presenting the Usenet continuation concept to the audience (with
visual back-up for the URL with the instructions) and next promising
that at the end of one week hence you will spend at least
one hour reviewing on-line the posts prefixed "UCB10", should there be
enough of them to take that much time. Picking up on this proposal
seems more suitable for a person of your age and professional
specialty than for your ~venerable co-star of the show, eh what?

By your kind leave, I will now sketch my optimal notion for an
occasion such as the one impending: A) Live streaming. B) Prominent
display of the designated newsgroup and the gateway Website (i.e, the
one with the basic instructions for those new to the Usenet, who are
many). C) Detailed narratives of some of the most dramatic of the 1400
murders, e.g, the case of little Rabbo sisters but many additional
choices unfortunately available. D.) A systematic summary of body
counts, dates and statements by proponents of the slaughter. Also of
the call by President Chavez for the prosecution of the principal war
criminals involved. E) Announcing that _after_ the viva voce Q & A,
the MC will conduct two separate informal voice votes of those
attending in person on the following proposition: "It is the sense of
this meeting that: First, we the law-enforcing people of Earth should
arrest, try, convict and punish all those guilty of conspiring to
massacre the people of Gaza in the incident of this past New Year's
period. And, Second, that some big names in this target group of
perpetrators include: Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Tom Friedman,
Benyamin Netanyahu and George Bush.

Sincerely, Hal Womack

to help readers identify the on-line continuation of your original FTF
meeting.

"activism" to vast vision to sound strategy to bold action to
victory!
