OAKLAND -- Authorities have identified a man whose body washed up Friday
at the San Leandro Marina as a missing San Francisco college student.

A spokesman for the Alameda County Coroner's office on Tuesday identified
the body as 20-year-old Derrick Shao of San Francisco. Shao was last seen
in the 900 block of Ingerson Avenue in San Francisco on the morning of
Nov. 7 when he headed out to catch a Muni bus to go to City College of San
Francisco, police said. He never arrived at school and his family reported
him missing.

Shao's body was discovered by a passer-by about 7 a.m. Friday on the shore
of the San Leandro Marina.
