Cousins Aneceto and Jaime Reyes committed murder and a car-jacking,
respectively, after returning to Los Angeles from Mexico following
deportation. The Los Angeles police had encountered them before these most
recent crimes, but had to wait for them to commit murder and a car-jacking
before they could lay a finger on them for their immigration offenses,
according to the New York Times.
