Oakland police arrest dozens during drug raid

(12-21) 17:11 PST Oakland, Calif. (AP) --
Oakland police say they've taken dozens of drug dealers off the
streets after a series of raids across the city.
Police spokesman Jeff Thomason says officers arrested 51 people on
drug warrants Monday, while another 30 people were taken into custody
on related charges.
During the raids, police also seized four handguns.
Thomason says the arrests come after an eight-month investigation
involving undercover officers buying drugs from dealers.
Police will continue the sweeps on Tuesday.
Thomason says some of the suspects will be offered a chance to avoid
jail time by joining a local rehab program.
