As announced below by the venerable Lawrence Ferlinghetti's world
famous City Lights Bookstore,
Tom Hayden --the old SDS-er from the 1960's-- is
coming to my block in North Beach for a public appearance this
Wednesday April 10th.

Having myself only very few minutes to spare from other duties this
Sunnyday morn, I'd like to raise a question in advance for my old
leader Tom. In 1974-75 he very capably organized the Indochina Peace
Campaign to pressure Congress to relax the USGov grip on Vietnam so
that the long-suffering people of that country, brilliantly led by the
heirs of Ho Chi Minh, could finally boot out the puppet regime and
achieve national unity. In those last two war-time years (of that war,
anyway) I was the delegate from Texas for
the IPC. I had worked as a volunteer for the "Viet Cong" --as it were,
alliteration being almost irresistible; back then we insisted on
saying the "NLF" for "National Liberation Front"--
with great success since 1964 in Austin, Pittsburg PA, NYC
and New Orleans.

Jumping from then to now: Our best estimate of the number of
innocents murdered by WAR aka the WAshington Regime in Afghanistan and
Iraq since 1990
= ~10,000,000 [ten million]. Our best estimate of the 9/11 stunt =
Henry Kissinger and Aerial Shaboom served as co-captains for this
black op in order to rescue the Jewish imperial position. So far this
all-time top false flag ruse has succeeded overwhelmingly although now
showing serious signs of wear & tear. Furthermore, the 9/11 attack
built on the previous success of the partnership between Bernard
Baruch and David Ben Gurion in 1963 in arranging the assassination of
President John F. Kennedy. Only from the overplay of the WTC scam did
we finally become aware of the identity of the finger on the trigger
in
Dealey Plaza forty years earlier.

American Free Press correspondent Michael Collins Piper solved
this
case in1994 with the publication of his book
(although his focus did omit the role of Bernard Baruch).

My time's up for today. Any Nor Cal tempted to attend
the City Lights do, PBAT [ = "Please Be Advised That" ]

To say it right off, the most attractive feature of an event at City
Lights Books was missing last night (Thursday 080410). By me 'twould
be worthwhile to go there even to hear Dan Quayle read names from the
telephone directory, provided only that I could watch from a perch
down below while Lawrence Ferlinghetti up in the balcony eagle-eyed
the goings-on. With 89 year-old Uncle Larry, that last verb's an
understatement. "Condor-eye"? Strictly in terms of silent but color
film cameo appearance, Ferlinghetti's living image in the flesh meets
or beats any of the noble Romans of yore, as we saw at Lewis Lapham's
( HARPER'S) so-so reading there last week. I must admit, though, that
the brunette store rep "Elaine" who intro'ed Tom Hayden is easy on the
eyes herself. Remarkably enough, she also got started exactly on the
announced time. By that moment 'twas already SRO in the relatively
small space that the store can offer at its best. Some 32 chairs had
been put out in plain view, so the audience numbered about 50, filling
the book-lined room comfortably close.

The last time I had seen Hayden in person was in April of 1975 in
Pittsburgh PA at the national convention of his Indochina Peace
Campaign. My Eurasian girlfriend and I had hitchhiked there from
Austin to represent the State of Texas. When we arrived at the scene,
we found that the IPC had instituted a kind of egalitarian scheme
whereby those who had spent less on travel were taxed, as it were, to
benefit those who had spent more. So when the rather Stalinist-seeming
chap on reception duty found that the two of us had spent nothing at
all to get there, he demanded that we fork over some moola on behalf
of those who had flown, which struck sparks from us thumbers.
Fortunately a stout Aggie, i.e. Texas A & M, comrade was already in
place, so between the three of us we were able to straighten out the
apparatchik on the equity issue. At that time I led a small "Free
Communist" faction which absolutely supported victory for the
Vietnamese patriots against the Yankee invaders. The idea of arresting
the U.S.Gov officials for war crimes had yet to occur to us, however,
although
I would learn later that Angela Davis had already raised this
fundamental theme in California. Our group at the University of Texas
in Austin had just conducted a referendum campaign in the campus
elections to invite a revolutionary Vietnamese to come as a visiting
professor to teach courses on the history of the war. The student
body, 40,000 strong, had voted two to one in favor of our proposal.
Within a week or two of the ending of that IPC conference, the
Vietnamese launched their Great Spring Offensive, finally obliterating
the puppet regime in the south and famously chasing US Ambassador
Ellsworth Bunker into a helicopter as he fled from the roof of the
Saigon embassy. End of flashback.

Today the 68 year-old Tom Hayden proves to be a self-satisfied and
rather dull speaker who holds forth on "my life as a writer" with
sidelights to his two decades in the California State legistlature as
Assemblyman and then Senator from Santa Monica. From my few peeks at
his stuff*, I would say he does write better than he talks. Hayden
shows a sort of practiced sincerity and also responds nimbly, albeit
superficially, to questions of which I asked him two:

A) Is is true that in the last two decades the U.S.Government has
murdered about 8-10 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan and, if so,
what does that imply?

B) How many chances out of 100 that the same entity both shot down
President John Kennedy and flew the jet planes into the World Trade
Center?

Hayden began his answer, surprisingly, by saying that he teaches a
course on the body count in Iraq. His words. He also said that he pays
close attention to numbers, as in that case would indeed be expected.
He thought that mine were "on the high side". Hayden made a false
antithesis between those who wish to minimize the civilian casualties
vs. those who supposedly wish to exaggerate them. The Bushes &
Clintons of WAR or the WAshington Regime
have an obvious interest in trying to downplay the magnitude of their
atrocities but why should honorable observers seek at all to
exaggerate them? That would be the proverbial "gilding of the lily" or
rubbing garlic on garlic. As stated often before on the Usenet, my
estimated number of 2,000,000 [two million] Iraqi dead from 1990 to
March of 2006 comes straight from Hans-Christoff Graff von Sponeck,
former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and director
of its office in Baghdad for humanitarian relief in the time of the
Clintons' blockade. The estimated number of 6.2 million dead in
Afghanistan comes from the careful calculation of Dr.Gideon Polya in
Australia and we have to fill in the updated figure for Iraq for the
last two years. Because of its importance in framing the basic
narrative for popular education, I look forward to a detailed
comparison of the various estimates.

Hayden also completely failed even to mention the question of war
guilt and the arrest of the perpetrators, whereas von Sponeck had
already two years ago affirmed our duty to bring the culprits to
justice. So smug here, Tom, in the face of pro war monsters like Nancy
Pelosi. Against whom BTW the bereaved Cindy Sheehan* is running.

Perhaps I will ask Dr.Polya, Graf von Sponeck, the Honorable Paul
Craig Roberts and Professor James Petras please to confer on our best
available estimates of the numbers of WAR
victims in these last two Bush-Clinton or BC decades and for attorneys
Francis Boyle, Gerry Spence, Ramsey Clark and, possibly, Richard Falk
as well to agree on drafting an indictment of the BC's & their
accomplices for war crimes.

On the JFK--9/11 issue, Hayden smoothly danced around, 'keeping his
options open', as the saying goes. He allowed as how he had seen a lot
of cover-ups in his time and that these issues were legitimate topics
of conversation but that he wanted to avoid letting them distract us
from "ending the war". Hayden seems to be thinking only "within the
box" of the consensus of the US national "elite" to which he often
referred, mentioning in particular his conversation with Clinton's
former CIA chief John Deutch. Hayden also stressed his appreciation
for Macchiavelli.

I again propose a broader and more profound strategic perspective:
Rather than working like little dissident chipmunk activists to
reelect obstinate war criminals of the Democratic Party and then
trying to "pressure" them into ending the war, we rather decide to go
deep to the bottom of things and act to rouse the American people to
throw 99% of the sitting Congress into prison on felony charges too
self-evident in light of the discussion above to need repeating in
this sentence. Then, together with the rest of humanity, we Americans
help to constitute the real world democracy and pay long overdue due
reparations to our many victims from Haiphong to Fallujah. The
theoretical sequence = dream, vision, theory, doctrine, strategy,
operations, tactics, action, victory.

Tom deserves credit for pointing strongly to the importance of black
America leading a rainbow youth movement as a fundamentally positive
force for the country which overshadows several significant defects in
Barack Obama's own politics. We need to tack on here, though, the
current question of how to forge a black-Latino alliance to lead the
whites. This means somehow breaking Hillary's grip on the Latino
voters. An important operational goal here = the last primary which
takes place on June 1st in Puerto Rico. Can Fidel, Hugo, Evo, Rafael
and GGM help us at all in this bicultural transformation? Should Tom
go ask them about it lickety-split? Also, in the spirit of getting
down with the best of black America --rather than with its criminal
element such as Colin Powell, Skeeza, the wee Xeno and even Obama--
will Tom come out for appointing Mumia Abu-Jamal to the Supreme Court?
You know, in the spirit of the French Revolution of 1789, "careers
open to talent". Be rad, dad?

Their technique is quite simple: They switch the focus of argument
onto the personality of their adversary. Thus, instead of discussing
apartheid in Israel, we discuss Jimmy Carter, whether he is a bigot
and antisemite (thus Foxman, the "bad Jew") or he is not (Avnery, the
"good Jew"). The correct answer is "irrelevant": Carter's love for
Jews or lack of it has no bearing on the question of apartheid in
Palestine. Likewise, if we discuss the situation in Bosnia or Kosovo,
we do not go into our sentiments towards Serbs, Albanians or Croats.
But Jews are different!

For instance, General Wesley Clark said that rich Jews, the great
donors of Washington politicians, push for war with Iran. Well, this
can be discussed, maybe even denied, but instead they derail the
discussion into another topic, whether Clark is an antisemite. Matthew
Yglesias provides the sources for the whole kosher hog, from
comparison with The Protocols, to the inevitable quote from Foxman who
says Clark had "bought into conspiratorial bigotry". From this moment,
Clark will stick to defending himself, and the guys will take care
that his hands will be full. Here again, the correct answer is a
polite shrug: who cares whether Clark is a bigot? Maybe he is also a
paedophile and usurer, but this ad hominem has no bearing on what he
said. And an accusation "you do not love Jews" is not much different
from "You do not love your aunt", and you probably have learned to
live with it at the age of six.

A good book to accustom oneself to this sort of attack is Michael
Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita: this marvellous book shows the
Jewish critics' swarm attack on a writer who dared to write about
Christ. Indeed, whoever mentions Christ will experience it sooner or
later.

I also had a personal taste of this swarm attack. During the Tsunami
disaster in Thailand I discovered that the Jewish undertakers, Zaka,
forced the Thais to delay mass burial of victims for a day or two,
despite the real and immediate danger of epidemic diseases, in order
to avoid a real calamity: that holy Jewish bodies might be
inadvertently buried together with the goyim. I was told so by the
members of Zaka team who were quite proud of their feat. I wrote about
it (Tsunami in Gaza). It was republished by a few sites. Then, a
British Jew named Manfred Ropschitz began an ad hominem campaign
against me. Other Jews joined the fray, discussing whether I am a Jew,
or a "Swedish-Russian Nazi antisemite", as if this had any bearing on
the tsunami story. Instead of shrugging it off, other supporters of
Palestine switched to this piquant subject. They carried their
discussion from The Times to their email lists, until eventually,
another Jewish "antizionist" commented with deep satisfaction: "Shamir
is marginalised and brought into disrepute".

Ropschitz did not try to disprove the story, for the story was true.
He wrote: "With an army of journalists crawling over the Tsunami story
I'd expect to have heard such shocking news by now - if it's true. I
am a journalist and I don't believe it." No, gentlemen, you won't hear
a true story if it is not acceptable to Ropschitzes of this world.
They will hunt you to the far-away corner of the world, and there are
not many people who care to risk their well-planned attacks. Indeed,
one ought to be a real kamikaze to enter this fight. The Ropschitzes,
these quite ordinary Jews who fully identify with their community, are
the key to the swarm attack. There are many Jewish media-lords, even
more Jewish editors, but it is the Ropschitzes that clinch the party
line. These willing executioners of our freedom, these foot-soldiers
of the media lords, automatically defend "the Jews" (i.e., the
organised Jewish community) at any price. Ordinary human beings of
Jewish origin can be of any opinion. Likewise, ordinary Americans do
not decide whether their country will attack Iran or not. But Bush and
Cheney alone can't fight the Iraqi war, and the Jewish media lords
would be powerless without their willing executioners of freedom.

The Gentile philosemites are even worse, observed Eustace Mullins, the
legendary American writer whose best-selling books (running into the
millions) were never published or distributed by the mainstream press.

A man died this week in France, a real saint, who was known by the
affectionate appellation of "Abbè Pierre", a priest who fought with
the Resistance, helped the homeless, provided for the poor and was a
great friend of the Palestinians. In 1996 he was hounded almost to
death after he expressed his support for another friend of Palestine,
Roger Garaudy, who wrote a book called The Founding Myths of Israeli
