A Kirkland man caught trying to rape his girlfriends daughter
is headed to state prison.
Convicted following a jury trial in King County Superior Court,
Ryan D. Firoved was undone after bragging to his girlfriend
about having sex with other children.
Firoved, a 37-year-old married father and convicted child
rapist, arrived at a Kirkland motel room expecting to rape his
girlfriends child. Instead, Firoved was greeted by police
alerted by the woman.
According to court papers, the girls mother contacted Kirkland
police in late June 2012 and reported her concerns about
messages and comments from Firoved, whom she was dating at the
time.
The woman told police Firoved told her three months before that
hed raped a 12-year-old girl while on a trip. In the months
that followed, Firoved made graphic sexual comments and claims
about several other young girls.
When the woman disapproved, Firoved attempted to explain himself.
I guess you could say Im a pedophile, but at least Im not a
predator, Firoved said, according to the womans account.
People come to me and I make it consensual.
According to charging documents, the woman went to police when
Firoved suggested he should make it consensual with her young
daughter.
The woman gave police a series of graphic text messages sent by
Firoved. In the days following her report to police, the woman
continued to play along with Firoved as police listened in.
On the call, Firoved was initially very concerned rightfully,
of course that police were listening in on the call. After
some time, though, he began detailing sex acts he wanted to
perform on the womans child.
Firoved and the woman arranged to meet at a motel where Firoved
believed he would have sex with the girl. He was arrested while
arriving at the room following a brief struggle with police.
Speaking with police, Firoved denied ever considering having
sexual contact with the girl and said hed come to the motel to
break up with the woman.
It is made up, sick and a fantasy, but at the end of the day I
never touched anyone, Firoved told detectives, according to
charging papers.
Firoved was already under investigation by the regional Internet
Crimes Against Children Task Force run through the Seattle
Police Department. According to court documents, Firoved
responded to an advertisement posted online by officers posing
as a young girl hoping to have sex with an older man.
On Oct. 9, a King County jury convicted Firoved of attempted
first-degree child rape. Superior Court Judge Douglass North on
Friday sentenced Firoved to 10 years in prison; the sentence
allows state Department of Corrections officials to hold Firoved
indefinitely if they believe he continues to pose a risk to
children.
Firoved is currently jailed in King County. An appeal is
expected.
Court records show Firoveds wife filed for divorce in March.
Proceedings are ongoing in the matter.
