I guess this democrat asshole needs this posh furniture in his high rise
capitol office in order to look down at all the jobless tax payers who are
suffering to support his extravagance.......

The state's budget crisis has heightened not only debate in Sacramento,
but also tempers.
In a series of competing press releases Tuesday, state Sen. Abel
Maldonado, R-Santa Maria, and the Controller's Office squared off over how
much is appropriate to spend on office furniture during tight fiscal
times.
Maldonado, who represents parts of Santa Cruz County, charged state
Controller John Chiang with recently ordering more than $2 million of
unnecessary work stations for his "plush" top-floor office.
"How is that acceptable?" Maldonado said in his release. "Here is an
elected official who is in the press every day talking about cutting
services, stopping checks to welfare recipients and issuing IOUs to
hardworking Californians."
Chiang, who has made headlines this month for withholding state payments
because of the cash crunch, said Maldonado's accusations were off-base and
"pathetic." Responding to the charges, Chiang said the furniture orders
preceded his tenure as the state's top finance official and, in fact, were
negotiated at a lower cost after he took office.
"We would urge the senator to check his math, stop grandstanding and get
back to work on negotiating a solution to the state's $42 billion budget
gap," the controller's spokeswoman wrote in an e-mail.
